Wurrumiyanga

WurrumiyangaMap The Tiwi Islands are 60 kms across the Arafura Sea, north of Darwin. Bathurst and Melville Island and five smaller islands total 800,000 hectares and include a coastline of 1016 kms held under free-hold title by our 2000 landowners. Wurrumiyanga  is the largest settlement on Bathurst Island (known as Nguiu until 2010) with a population of around 1,450. 

Tanyah Nasir has been delivering her Rise Up program at Wurrumiyanga. It is through this workshop program and its attendant culturally safe environment that Governance and Leadership issues are discussed. Michaela Spencer has also been supporting Tanyah in her work at Wurrumiyanga.
